What to expect from Endurance Racing Report

Posted on 31 March 2010

The goal of my new blog Endurance Racing Report (ERR) is to provide athletes with valuable information of specific races throughout the world.    I will rotate the races in each of the specific endurance sport categories (Adventure races, aquaman, cross country skiing, cycling (mountain, road, cyclocross),   duathlon, running races (all distances – trails and road), rowing/kayaking races, snowshoe races, triathlons (all distances), open water swim races) and will be available for viewing in the future by clicking on the specific category tab.  I will include many answers to questions that we all have that are not on the race websites.

Personally, I look forward to learning about new races and interviewing race directors/athlete’s for each of the specific races as well.   It is amazing how many races there are throughout the world an how many people are racing!  This is very evident with all the races currently being inputted into our new race resource database tool -RaceTwitch.com (coming soon!)

We all learn about unique races from other athletes and friends, but with so many worldwide races it’s difficult to always find out about them (endless Google searches, race directories, magazines).   Recently I just found out about an interesting race held in Switzerland from another competitor. Last year at the DECA Ironman race, I was biking along on one of my daily 93 loops (I was awake and not too delirious) and was speaking with another athlete about a race he does every year.   Of course, I am always eager to hear about what’s new with regards to endurance races aces and we discussed a race called the Gigathlon which is held in Switzerland.  The race site is only in German and French but it consists of multiple disciplines (road biking, mountain biking, swimming, inline skating, running) at altitude. It’s a multi-day race. Yes, I will highlight this race for sure in ERR.   This is a perfect example of how ERR can be a resource for the racing community to share some great race information.

ERR will provide reviews of of races that I have in the RaceTwitch.com database (along with future additions of new races not yet in the database) to help athletes make informed decisions on what races to add or not to each individuals own race calendar.    It’s a big world of races out there for all of us to experience.  Yes, you guessed it, Gigathon is my type of race and it’s on the race goal list.

Hope you enjoy the report and future videos, and please send me races you would like to highlight if your a race director or athlete.  Love to hear from you, comment to the ERR blog or send an email to me at wayne.kurtz@racetwitch.com

Race On!
