3 Day at the Fair Running Races – Reflections

Posted on 17 May 2010

This past weekend was the inaugural 3 Days at the Fair Running Races.  There were multiple race distances for athletes to select for the event to challenge new personal goals.  The flat loop was .8578 mile loop and the choices included: 6 Hour, 12 Hour, 24 Hour and 48 Hour events.

I participated in the 48 hour race and there were many great performances as each athlete had their own goals and objectives.  The weather started with some rain then some high humidity/sun then day two was pleasant low humidity and sun/clouds.   Rick McNulty, Race Director and his team were exceptional in every aspect of course layout, logistics, unbelievable aid station (the food was amazing and whatever you need they seemed to have it), restrooms and showers that made you feel as you were in the Holiday Inn!   No lines to use a bathroom and of course I did not miss the Porta John after 40 hours!  A big thanks to Rick for hosting such a fine event and it was only the first year!  Rick’s award ceremony started 5 minutes after the end of the race and was completed in 20 minutes and allowed everyone to get on the road for long drives or flights home.

Check out some pictures and race results on the race website:   If you are interested in testing your limits of distance and want a first class event, check out 3 Days at the Fair next year. Rick has mentioned that the race date will be around the same time next year.  This race will definitely grow as all the athletes seemed to thoroughly enjoy the experience.

Also, check out the NJ Trail Series as Rick hosts a series of events with some unique challenges. (Running with the Devil on July 24th, looks brutal!)

I can’t wait till next year!
