The Limassol Marathon

Marathon Calendar

The 2011 Limassol Marathon will take place on the 20th February, 2011. The course is on the coastal road / avenue of Limassol, right next to the deep blue sea. The race starts at 9:00 in the morning. Average weather 15 – 17c.

Our race director, Mr George Karagiannnis, a former marathon runner, has been in charge for all the years of its organization. It is the 5th year of its organization.

Like last year, we will have elite and also pace maker runners.

Entry Fees: Marathon: 50 euro

*   Half Marathon: 35 euro
*   10k: 20 euro
*   kids run: free

All athletes will receive a marathon t-shirt, marathon bag, medal, participation diploma and gifts from sponsors.

The flat, easy, quick and straight course is ideal for runners of all abilities to achieve personal best times. Running along the waves, next to ancient ruins in one area and high tech buildings in another is exiting.

Great offers on flight and hotels, mild weather, beautiful beaches, lovely trails and absolutely fantastic food, make Limassol a bargain package hard to resist.

 We moved the start / finish point exactly at the Molos of Limassol. A pedestrian area on the promenade.

There will be a Race dinner in the company of elites, with extensive buffet for all likes and tastes (fish, meat, pasta, salads + deserts).  There will also be music and free local drinks until midnight, all at 25 euro, per person.

Olympus Event Management has been organizing the event since last year. There were 1400 athletes in 2010. This year we will have at least double.

 The majority of the athletes come from England, Germany, Belgium, Romania and Greece. We also have athletes from 14 other countries.

Two airports Larnaca and Paphos international airports are both 45 minute distance by car. Hotel information is available at the Limassol marathon website.

We will have music and dance bands, philharmonic orchestra and dj. If kids are young, they will need your supervision. There will be a race expo on Friday, Saturday and Race Day (February 18 & 19 & 20, 2011)

The course Start and Finish are at the same location. The course is flat and easy on the coastal road on Limassol. There is a training week program and race clinic with Eamonn Martin and Alan Newman to help prepare for the race, free to all runners who book at the official marathon hotel Atlantica Oasis – through us.

The course is supervised by the police and traffic free – no worries!  The course is also clearly marked with arches, directional and distance signs. Volunteers will be at each point to direct runners. Police motor bikes will be in front and behind runners.

Have fun no worries! Train, train and train for a long time before the race under the advice of an expert, especially for the marathon and Half! Also, join our training week to shape up.

There are 15 total course stations, all manned by first aiders and other volunteers to offer first aid – with walky talkies to summon more help or ambulance if needed. Water, isotonic drinks, sponges at start / finish and many more points of the course. Ambulances with doctors and cpr, Physiotherapist, cardiologist, massage and general MD at start / finish, and 2 more points of the course.

*   We also offer special fares / packages from 18 destinations at low cost.
*   Rental Car Requirements: Offered as low as 15 euro per day.

Stores are all over the place. The course is on one of the normally busiest avenues of Limassol, Traffic free on race day.  Runners can have water and isotonic drinks free. There is a race Photographer on the course.

The course is easy, flat, quick and straight, ideal for the achievement of personal best time. Low cost flights and accommodation, mild weather, beautiful beaches, lovely trails make Limassol a true bargain package. Limassol is the 2nd largest city of Cyprus, but the most cosmopolitan with carefree and most friendly people. Come and enjoy a few relaxing days in the sun!
