The 11th annual Martian Invasion of Races

The 11th annual Martian Invasion of Races will be held on Saturday April 2, 2011 at Ford Park in Dearborn, MI.  Start times will vary for the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, Marathon Relay and Kids’ Marathon – please visit for the most up to date information.  Randy Step is the creator and founder of the Martian Invasion of Races and has been an endurance athlete for decades.

April weather in MI can vary but starting temperatures are generally between 35 – 45 degrees and may warm up to the 50s or 60s by the time the event is over.  Be prepared for snow, rain, wind and/or calm & sunny skies!  Packet pick up will be held at the expo on Friday April 1 at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center from 3pm – 8pm & at Ford Park on race day beginning at 6 AM.  We highly recommend visiting our expo and picking packets up on Fri.

Marathon and Half Marathoners receive a technical shirt, finisher medals and certificates; 5 & 10K participants receive a technical shirt and prize money is available in the 10K!  5 deep in 5 year age divisions for all races. Marathon Relay participants receive tech shirts, finisher medals and awards 10 deep in each category.  Great course support and post race food for all races.  Kids receive a finisher’s shirt and medal, great training tools and prizes.

A fun, supportive and competitive atmosphere with blow up Martians all over the course!

Most of the athletes travel from MI, OH, IL, IN, KY, Canada for what began as a small training run and has turned into a first class event featuring elite runners and thousands of participants!

Race location is merely 30 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport the website has complete details of area hotels.  Grocery stores are located just miles from the race location and cell phone coverage is available in the area. 

Keep the kids entertained by entering them in in the kid’s marathon!  The race Starts and finishes in the same area and there are plenty of bathroom facilities available. Aid stations are located at least every two miles, gu, water, electrolyte drink +

The course is clearly marked with cones, mile markers, Martians and friendly, enthusiastic volunteer!  Race Photographers will be on the course and the race is traffic free!
