The 5th annual Dances With Dirt Gnaw Bone

The 5th annual Dances With Dirt Gnaw Bone will be held on Saturday May 14, 2011 through Brown County State Park, beginning at Mike’s Music and Dance Barn, Nashville, IN.  Randy Step is the creator and founder of the Dances With Dirt Series and has been an endurance athlete for decades.

The course is always being tweaked based on previous year’s comments and experience to make for an even better experience each year.  Amazing views and hills in what is otherwise thought of as a flat part of the country.  A party atmosphere with the opportunity to take home some very cool swag!

Athletes receive tech shirts, finisher medals, a pig roast, pizza and other treats as well as a live band to celebrate after the race! Awards are 5 deep in 5 year age divisions.  See website for complete pricing information.

 Most of the athlete’s come from for the race (what states)? MI, WI, IN  The race is close to two big international airports Indianapolis and Fort Wayne and there are smaller ones close as well.

Hotels are close by and also located on the website. Race site is close to downtown Nashville with great shops and food.

The races start and finishes in the same area and have plenty of bathrooms available. There are many aid stations on the course with Lots of aid stations – water, gatorade, assorted gu packets, PB & J, boiled potatos, salt, chips, coke, peanuts, oreos, bananas, oranges, candy….

 

When training for this event, be prepared for Hills, roots, dirt, hills, roots, dirt, hills, roots, dirt! Be aware of and follow the markings on the course – NOT the person ahead of you.  Be prepared to follow the markings off of the course/main trail.
