Randy Step is the creator and founder of the Dances With Dirt Series and has been an endurance athlete for decades. The growth of this race has been slow but steady with most athletes coming from Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana and Ohio. The closest airports are General Mitchell International Airport – Milwaukee and Dane County Regional Airport – Madison.  Hotel information can be found on our website. The Devil’s Head Ski Resort, which is the host hotel has swimming pools, hot tubs, great hiking.  Grocery stores are within 5 – 10 miles of the race.

This race starts & finishes in same area with plenty of bathroom facilities. The course is always being tweaked to look out for the interest and safety of runners as well as feedback from prior participants. Race fees can be found on our website.  Athletes receive a gender specific technical race shirt, finisher’s medal, awards 5 deep in 5 year age divisions, amazingly well stocked aid stations, loads of volunteer support and an unbelievably good time in a beautiful environment!

Post race meal includes fruit, fluid replacements, sweet and salty stuff and lots of other good grub TBD. Aid stations stocked with lots of food – pbj, fluid replacements, candy, cookies, pretzels, first aid, bug spray, more…

To prepare for this race, be ready for trails & hills! Be sure to follow the course markings and NOT the person ahead of you.  The course is clearly marked with ribbons and signs and sometimes ‘paint’, enjoy the beautiful scenery and have fun!

Be ready for a unique, beautiful, lots of ‘bang for your buck’, fun yet competitive race that has something for everyone.
