30-Day Challenge of Raw Foods

Posted on 30 May 2012

As a follow up to the 30 Day Run challenge to add something different into the
normal routine, consider other personal challenges with fitness over a specific period of time. It will provide some focus and nice to have when you’re feeling a bit over-trained.

How about considering a completely “clean” food challenge for a specific period of
time. We have all continued to hear about the benefits of eating purely raw and the impact of performance. If you have not attempted a raw only approach to your food intake, definitely consider it. It becomes tough at times depending upon business travel, etc. so try to maintain as closely as possible. It will require some planning and food preparation for sure, but the benefits can be immense especially with a heavy training schedule.

8 Benefits of Eating Raw

  1. Raw foods are better quality; therefore you eat less to satisfy your nutritional
  2. needs. The heat of cooking depletes vitamins, damages proteins and fats, and
  3. destroys enzymes which benefit digestion.
  4. You won’t know this unless you try it for yourself, but eating raw gives you
  5. an amazing boost in energy. Especially if you normally get tired around 2 or
  6. 3pm during the day prior to the evening workout.
  7. You will sleep better on less hours of total sleep. Waking up you will not feel
  8. tired.
  9. Eating Raw will increase your mental clarity. It’s much easier to focus for
  10. longer periods of time.
  11. You can eat as much as you want until you feel full.
  12. Weight loss benefits
  13. Clearer Skin
  14. Reduced risk of diseases, sickness

Consider easing into the raw foods diet over 30 days. Start with 50% and increase over the month. You will be amazed at the energy you will have for training!
